Bela Barner Bela Barner (bbarner@gsbalum.uchicago.edu) is a “business storyteller” specializing in communications and education for executive-level readers and audiences. He develops strategy-focused case studies and business features for academic, professional services, and journalism clients. His clients include the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, Cardean University, and several professional service firms in the Chicago area. He also serves as an adjunct instructor for the University of Chicago’s Executive MBA program. Bela’s writings aim to “tell the story” of business in creative and engaging ways that business executives can easily understand and appreciate. He describes “business storytelling” as being an economist, historian, translator, strategist, and listener. His goal is to enable his clients and audiences to feel wiser, but not poorer. Before launching his business writing practice in 1998, Bela worked as a consultant for Arthur Andersen, Andersen Consulting [now Accenture], and James Martin and Company [now Headstrong]. Bela received his MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in1999. He has a B.A. in Economics and French awarded by Northwestern University in 1989.
